Day 3 = Sydney: Fish Market, Bondi Beach

Welcome to the Fish Market!
Once again, our kids were ready to start the day at 6am, and not much is open that early on a weekend morning.  So we decided to check out the Sydney Fish Market, since it was one of the few places that open at 7am.  We took a taxi to the Fish Market since we were all hungry and ready to eat breakfast, and it was a pretty long walk away.

Guess we're not the only ones hungry.
These 3 HUGE pelicans??? or not pelicans... hmmm.... (see their size in comparison to the seagulls there) - were like 3 hungry toddlers waiting by the back entrance of the Fish Market.  Clearly, they get fed all the leftovers because they were SO patiently waiting by the door.  And no joke, they were the same height as Ro Ro and Zaydee!!!

One of the many options in the Fish Market.
After browsing through all the stores in the Fish Market, James and Kevin chose Peter's to buy some fresh Pacific and Sydney Rock oysters, fresh sashimi (tuna, salmon, kingfish -white), and a fried combo plate of assorted seafood.  Yes, sashimi for breakfast!!!

James and Kevin in Seafood Heaven!!!  (Hey!  Didn't intend for that to rhyme.... hehe).
The combo masterpiece + some more flat whites.
The ladies did have some delicious sashimi bites too... but the babies were fooled into eating fruit and yogurt =)
After our unusual, but special and surprisingly satisfying breakfast, our stomach's were content to take the long stroll back to our hotels.  On our walk back, we crossed the Pyrmont "Swing" Bridge in Darling Harbour.  We actually got to see the "swinging" in action where the center of the bridge "swings," or swivels, to the side in order to let taller boats through - apparently the boats aren't too tall or it would hit the monorail above. Something new!
Weekend - pretty empty on the Pyrmont Bridge.  Weekday commute hours?  Very crowded with pedestrians going to work.
Always taking the elevator up and down because of our strollers ... privilege or inconvenience?

The Fish Market adventure took up our morning and the kids took their naps when we got back to the hotel.  When they woke up, we were ready to meet James' friend Scott in Bondi Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Australia.  Unfortunately, getting to Bondi Beach was a little bit of a nightmare.  From Circular Quay near our hotel, it would take a 30 minute taxi ride, or a 40 minute bus ride, so we decided to save some money and try taking the bus.  Already running late, we got on what we thought was the right bus... only to find out 30 minutes later that it dropped us RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED, in Circular Quay!!!  The sad part is that we had asked the bus driver if the bus was going to Bondi Beach and he clearly misunderstood us!!!

So, 30 minutes later, and by then, the kids don't think the bus is all that fun anymore, and honestly, neither do the parents especially when you have super sensitive motion sickness and start breaking in cold sweats on the bus... well, now we are running super duper late to meet Scott, and then we take the right bus and finally we arrive in Bondi Beach, luckily getting off on the right stop thanks to a passenger on the bus vs. the bus driver who we asked to tell us when to get off and he would've told us the wrong stop!  Ay-ya!!!

Anyhow, we made it.  Thank goodness Scott was patient and forgiving...

Sorry for making you wait over an hour for us Scott!!!
This is the restaurant that Scott picked (and ended up paying for!), that overlooks Bondi Beach.
While waiting for the food to arrive, Zaydee walks around outside and insists on playing with sand... in the cracks of the sidewalk sand.
Ro Ro's entertainment while waiting for food.  HIS CARS!!!  So happy with his cars!!!
Finally we eat what turned out to be lunch+dinner, and Bondi Iceberg Restaurant was delicious!  Some of the items we ordered included the Tuna Carpaccio, the #15 cocktail with blood orange, Pig Ragu Pasta, and Polenta Fries - yum yum!!!

After eating, we went down to the beach to let the kids play a bit before heading home on the bus again (woohoo - wah!!!).  Too bad it was winter and freezing on the beach, because we were too cold to stay long.  Surprisingly though, there were many people still in the water!  Brrr!

Oh yes, pulling out the winter coat.  It's cold!!!
The cold doesn't stop Zaydee!  She loves the sand!!!
Hi!!! Cutest picture ever!
This rock is for you Uncle Kevin...
Hey!!! K for Kevin and A for Ann Ming!!!
Time to go back to the bus stop!  So excited to run up the hill...
Fortunately, our bus ride home went much smoother and we arrived back in one trip =)  Time to walk back to our hotel and get ready for bed!

Mode of transportation #1 = Strollers.
Mode of transportation #2 = Daddy's Shoulders.  You've seen this before (and you will see lots more!!!).
Despite some trouble with transportation today, our adventures to the Fish Market and Bondi Beach led us to one of the best meals on our trip.  James will definitely say that the sashimi breakfast experience was his favorite meal, and Bondi's Icebergs was pretty delicious too.  Add on some of those Tim Tam's stashed in our hotel room, and we are done!

Like father, like daughter.
Like mother, like son.
Learning experience from the day: take Dramamine before bus rides.
