Day 14 = Hamilton Island to Sydney

Thursday, August 8, 2013

This was a travel day for us, so this post will be pretty short since we didn't take that many pictures.  In the morning, we frantically packed and cleaned out our apartment because checkout was at 10am and the airport transfer van picked up all of our big luggage.   Breakfast was also finishing some of the leftovers in the refrigerator, like some chicken drumsticks and lamb chops =)

Unfortunately, our flight wasn't until 2:00pm, so we had nowhere to go for a couple of hours.  We ended up finding a little playground to hang out at and a little hut for us to sit in.  We also wanted the kids to take their noon nap, so Ro Ro just fell asleep on one of the benches in the hut, and for Zaydee, we had to set up our pack n play outdoors in a quiet spot.  It took her awhile to finally fall asleep (being outdoors next to trees versus inside a blackout room!), but she finally took a short nap.  Whew!  As for the adults, we enjoyed some cocktails from the Pool Island Bar while the kids slept.

Our hang out hut next to the playground and pool.
See if you can find Zaydee's pack n play?
Here's a closer look at our sleeping baby!
We ended up walking to the airport (haha, that's how small the island is!) and then got on our flight to Sydney, which was about 2 hours long.

From the airplane window - goodbye Whitsunday Islands!
By the time we arrived at Sydney, got our luggage, and checked in to the Radisson Blu (same hotel we stayed at on the first half of our trip), it was already almost bedtime for the kids.  We just got some takeout from a Japanese restaurant called Izakaya Masuya and ordered a chirashi bento box, udon, and the boys tried some Hitachino owl beer.  Ready for bed - tomorrow is our last full day in Australia!  Sad!
