Day 10 = Cairns: Esplanade Marina, Muddy's x2

Sunday, August 4, 2013

The past two days in Cairns was exhausting because of the long drives and day trips to Kurunda and Daintree.  This was our last full day in Cairns, so we decided to take it easy and further explore the rest of the Cairns Esplanade close to our apartment.  We walked from one end of the Boardwalk to the other, and explored everything from Muddy's Playground (again), past the Lagoon and Park, to the Esplanade Marina, where we also discovered a "treehouse" playground!

One end of the Boardwalk ends at the Marina, and the Treehouse Playground is on the right!

Kevin and Ro Ro getting ready to play!
Try to find Zaydee!  Hint: strawberry top and white pants.
Two turtles for two little toddlers.
After playing in the treehouse, we explored the pier and marina a bit more.  Off they go!
Chao family photo at the marina!
Yu family photo!
As we walked the other direction toward the Lagoon, we found a small radio hosted festival that was giving out balloons and selling tickets for their jump houses.  Of course we had to stop by!

Balloon! Must get a balloon!
Stage for the music concert that will be used later in the day!
Jumpy house and slide for the little kids only.
Up, up, up we go!
Time to slide!
Guess the toddler slide wasn't thrilling enough.....
Weeee!!!  Even the mommies and daddies wanted to slide =)
After naptime, we let the kids return to Muddy's Playground again, except we were prepared this time... swimsuit on!!!

Zaydee loves wearing her octopus swimsuit!  She knows... it's water play time!
Slight detour on the way to the playground.  A few pull-ups...
Back on the rocking boat!  Fast! Fast!
Ro Ro on his own rocking horse.
Zaydee loves playing with older girls who are nice to her!
Ro Ro sharing a ride-on toy!
Are these the size of my hands?
Loving the different sand toys!
Ribbit!
That night, we were able to eat at one of the restaurants off of the Esplanade called Raw Prawn.  And of course, we finished the night with some Swiss ice cream from Movenpick!  James also went on a potato chip craze during this trip, looking for unique flavors.  This time, he found Thai Sweet Chili, and had to hide from the kids while he ate them.

Hiding behind the kitchen counter!
James LOVES his potato chips - only on vacation!
A relaxing day to end our time in Cairns.  Time to pack up all of our stuff - which, btw, is one of the only drawbacks about renting an apartment... you end up accumulating so much stuff in the kitchen and refrigerator, so cleaning up is quite a process!  Otherwise, having an apartment is the best way to go because you can do your laundry anytime, cook food, store snacks and drinks, and have a bigger space to hang out.  We'll be back Cairns!  And hopefully next time we'll be able to take Zaydee and Ro Ro scuba diving too!!!

Bye Bye!  We love Cairns!
